  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3 ½ cups confectioners’ sugar
  • ¼ cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter by cooking until golden brown and nutty. Chill until solidified.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F and line cupcake pan.
  3. Mix applesauce, sugar, oil, egg, and vanilla in a bowl.
  4. Whisk dry ingredients separately, then combine with wet ingredients.
  5. Fill cupcake liners and bake 18–21 minutes. Cool completely.
  6. Beat browned butter with vanilla and salt until creamy.
  7. Add powdered sugar and milk gradually until fluffy frosting forms.
  8. Pipe or spread frosting onto cooled cupcakes and serve.

Notes

  • Do not frost cupcakes until fully cooled.
  • Store in airtight container for 3–4 days.
