- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 yellow onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 15 oz cans tomato sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook ground beef and onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned, about 10 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 more minute.
- Stir in tomato sauce and Italian seasoning, simmer for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, remove from heat.
- Cook egg noodles according to package instructions, drain and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine sour cream and cottage cheese. Add cooked noodles and season with salt and pepper. Stir until combined.
- Layer half of the noodle mixture in the baking dish, top with half of the meat sauce. Repeat layers.
- Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese evenly on top. Bake 30 minutes until bubbly and cheese melted.
- Let cool 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
- Use freshly grated cheddar cheese for best flavor.
- You can swap cottage cheese for ricotta if desired.
- For a richer flavor, add a pinch of paprika or smoked paprika to the meat sauce.
