- 1 cup rolled oats
- ¾ cup melted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 bag soft caramels (about 11 oz)
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- In a small saucepan, melt caramels with heavy cream over medium heat until smooth. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, flour, rolled oats, and baking soda until combined.
- Press half of oat mixture into the bottom of the pan to form crust.
- Bake crust for 10 minutes. Remove and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the crust. Pour caramel mixture on top.
- Spread remaining oat mixture over caramel layer.
- Bake for an additional 20 minutes or until top is golden brown.
- Cool completely before cutting into bars and serving.
Notes
- For easier cutting, refrigerate the bars for 30 minutes before slicing.
- Optional: Add chopped nuts for extra crunch.
