- 4 tablespoons butter
- 200 g bittersweet chocolate
- 4 large egg whites
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 whole large eggs
- 4 large egg yolks
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 100 ml whipping cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line bottom of 9-inch springform pan with parchment paper.
- For cake: stir butter into chocolate, reheating if needed; let cool.
- Whisk 4 egg whites until foamy; gradually add ½ cup sugar until whites hold shape but not stiff.
- Whisk 2 whole eggs and 4 yolks with ⅓ cup sugar and vanilla; stir in chocolate mixture.
- Fold whites into chocolate mixture in three additions. Pour into pan and bake 35–40 minutes until cake rises and center is set.
- Cool on wire rack; remove carefully from pan.
- For icing: whip cream with vanilla until firm but not stiff; fold in melted chocolate.
- Fill top of cake with icing and spread toward edges; arrange Easter eggs on top.
