Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for cinnamon swirl)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking pan and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
- Gradually stir in the all-purpose flour until just combined. Do not overmix.
- In a small bowl, mix the ground cinnamon with 2 tablespoons of sugar.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter and gently swirl with a knife.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bars to cool. Mix powdered sugar and milk to create a glaze, then drizzle over the cooled bars.
Notes
- Let the bars cool completely before slicing for clean edges.
- Add nuts or chocolate chips for a fun variation.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for an extra-indulgent dessert.
