  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 9 bars

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for cinnamon swirl)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking pan and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  4. Gradually stir in the all-purpose flour until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the ground cinnamon with 2 tablespoons of sugar.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter and gently swirl with a knife.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the bars to cool. Mix powdered sugar and milk to create a glaze, then drizzle over the cooled bars.

Notes

  • Let the bars cool completely before slicing for clean edges.
  • Add nuts or chocolate chips for a fun variation.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for an extra-indulgent dessert.
