  • 2 cups blackberries
  • 2 tbsp cold butter, cubed (or vegan alternative)
  • 2 cups self-raising flour (or plain flour with pinch of baking powder)
  • 1 1/4 cups golden caster sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed (or vegan alternative)
  • 3 tbsp Demerara sugar (or optional crushed cookies for extra crunch)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Toss apples with lemon juice, flour, cinnamon, and Demerara sugar in a large baking dish.
  2. Gently fold in blackberries and sprinkle cubed butter on top. Cover and bake for 20 minutes.
  3. Prepare crumble topping: Mix flour, sugar, and cinnamon. Rub in butter until mixture forms small lumps. Add crushed cookies or Demerara sugar if desired.
  4. Remove fruit from oven, top with crumble mixture, and return to oven for 30 minutes until topping is golden and filling bubbles.
  5. Cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm with ice cream, custard, or cream.
