Get the party started with sparkling champagne grapes you’ll want to pop faster than corks! Perfect for New Year’s Eve, parties, patios, poolside, or picnics, and they double as dessert.

  • Total Time: 14 hours
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups grapes, rinsed with stems removed
  • 1 cup champagne
  • 3 tablespoons white granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Place grapes in a medium-sized bowl. Pour champagne over the top. Cover and refrigerate overnight or 12 hours.
  2. Remove from refrigerator and, using a strainer, drain grapes.
  3. Add sugar to a small bowl. Working with one handful at a time, toss grapes in sugar to coat. Jiggle to remove excess sugar and transfer to a bowl, platter, or baking sheet. Repeat.
  4. Freeze 2 hours, refrigerate, or serve at room temperature.

Notes

  • Select grapes that are firm, but have a little give so they soak up the champagne.
  • Do not pat grapes dry; moisture helps sugar adhere.
  • For easy sugar coating, use a powdered sugar spoon or small strainer to shake grapes gently.
  • Substitute champagne with Prosecco, sparkling Moscato, sparkling grape juice, apple juice, apple cider, or 7-Up.
  • Alternative fruits: strawberries, blackberries, raspberries.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze up to 1 month.
