  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. Cream the softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients until incorporated. Fold in chocolate chips gently.
  5. Press half the dough into the prepared pan; drizzle caramel sauce on top. Drop remaining dough over caramel and spread gently.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before cutting into bars. Sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
