These big soft chocolate chip cookies are perfectly chewy with golden edges, lightly salted, and loaded with chocolate chips. A classic treat that everyone loves.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 20 cookies

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, barely melted
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (or half chips, half chunks)
  • Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter, sugars, vanilla, and vinegar until smooth. Beat in the egg just until combined.
  4. Stir the flour mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Drop about 2 rounded tablespoons of dough 3 inches apart on the baking sheet.
  6. Bake 8–10 minutes until edges are light brown and centers look slightly underdone.
  7. Immediately sprinkle each cookie with coarse sea salt and let sit on the sheet 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

  • Use a medium cookie scoop for regular size cookies.
  • For softer cookies, do not overbake; centers should look slightly underdone.
